This is a great book to curl up with on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Five virtual strangers are the winners of an evening with one-time famous author Alice Day. Each is expecting something different from the evening. Rebecca, a working mother stretched to breaking point, is simply there to support a friend. Claire, desperately unhappy and childless, hopes for some fun and excitement. Megan, a teacher who hates her job and is in love with a married man, just wants to get a book signed as a birthday present. Lillian, a widow in her sixties hiding a painful secret, hopes merely to distract herself. And Kerry, a divorced father, is hoping he might meet someone. Alice, deeply unhappy herself, surprises them all when she presents them with the ‘Red Folder Project’. She hopes that this project will prove that it’s the little things which make life worth living. The tasks that she sets each person are meant to help them turn their lives around, but the small changes set off much larger ones and an act of betrayal dramatically affects everyone’s life. Alice is beginning to wonder what on earth she has done.
