Horror is not my usual choice but seeing a reader's blog recently (sorry, can't find it again to link to) which suggested trying some Stephen King short stories might be a not so horror-ble introduction to this popular author I gave him a try. Not true! I could only read the first story Big Driver before sending the book back to the library shelves. In this story a farmer makes his son help him kill the wife/mother who is threatening to make big changes in their lifestyle. What follows is the deservedly horrible lives each of them end up having. King even makes this miscreant red neck into a librarian with no qualifications at the end of a string of jobs he has to take up after losing the farm. Pffftt.Dianne
