Happy Kids by Cathy Glass

The title "Happy Kids" lured me in under false pretences. I thought it was a book about making your kids emotionally resilient however the truth is it is another discipline book. Cathy Glass has fostered over fifty children many with emotional and behavioural problems so she has to have developed some great techniques. Her main thesis is the 3Rs - request, repeat, reaffirm. She gives examples of applying the technique at different stages from baby to teen. Her main sanction idea is to limit tv/computer time. This would be a big threat in our house.

Glass also give good reasons for not using "the naughty chair" and "star charts". Two techniques I will gladly live without.
