Fiona Capp's memoir of Judith Wright acknowledges Judith as a mentor for Fiona, and is written with love and respect.
Judith was a strong and passionate individual. Both her poetry and later activism reflect her love of the land. Fiona outlines Judith's relations with two important men in her life. Philosopher Jack McKinney and political adviser and conservationist Nugget Coombs.
The Generations of Men studied in high school was my introduction to Judith's writing. Later she would acknowledge the damage this colonisation did to the Aboriginal people and the land.
Her spiritual connection to the land is similar to Uncle Max Harrison who I have been learning from recently.
Fiona's book follows Judith's life by visiting the places where Judith lived. Snatches of Judith's poetry interspersed throughout the book are revealed to Fiona as connection to place and coded messages to lovers.
